Deb Roy, Ph.D.
Co-Founder, Chairman, & CEO
Deb Roy has over 20 years of research experience in machine intelligence, cognitive science and media convergence combined with a long history of transitioning research concepts into commercial use. He is a tenured member of the MIT faculty where he pioneered research on understanding and modeling human behavior using big data. A frequent speaker at industry and academic events, Roy's TED talk was the most viewed full length TED talk of 2011. A native of Canada, he received his bachelor of computer engineering from the University of Waterloo and his PhD in cognitive science from MIT. He is currently on leave from MIT.

Michael Fleischman, Ph.D.
Co-Founder, President & CTO
Michael Fleischman leads the technological vision of Bluefin Labs. His PhD work at MIT led to the development of the algorithms that power Bluefin Labs technology. Michael brings over 10 years of experience in natural language processing, computer vision and machine learning. He holds degrees in Philosophy, Psychology, Computational Linguistics and Computer Science, has over 30 academic publications.
Jeremy Rishel
SVP Engineering, Products, & Data
Jeremy heads up Bluefin Labs' engineering, product, and data efforts. Jeremy was formerly the CTO and VP of Engineering at aPriori Technologies, which developed a groundbreaking approach to real-time analysis of complex design and manufacturing data to predict manufacturing methods and costs. Prior to that he led teams at i2 focused on transportation planning and optimization. Rishel earned BS degrees in Computer Science and Philosophy from MIT and served in the US Marine Corps for seven years, leaving active duty as a Captain.
Tom Thai
VP of Marketing
Tom Thai leads marketing and business development at Bluefin. He previously led marketing and sales strategy teams at Google and CBS Interactive. Most recently, he led Strategic Development at AOL, focused on monetization and advertising formats innovation. The work at AOL culminated in winning the IAB Rising Stars award for the Project Devil initiative. Previously, Tom also worked at Tellme Networks, a Silicon Valley startup. Tom earned his BS in Computer Science from Columbia University, where he was also elected to Tau Beta Pi.

Jack Flanagan
VP of Sales
Jack Flanagan leads the sales efforts at Bluefin, bringing over fifteen years of traditional and digital experience with him. Previously, he was the Chief Revenue Officer at Ace Metrix where he led the sales efforts to TV advertisers and marketers that allowed them to understand the creative effectiveness of their ads and their competitors in near real time. Before that, he led the sales efforts at comScore for the syndicated Media Metrix service with responsibility for North America, South America and Europe. Jack earned his BA in Marketing from Loyola College in Maryland.
Anjali Midha
VP of Client Services & Analytics
Anjali leads the client services and analytics team for Bluefin Labs. She comes to Bluefin from Digitas (the top ranked digital agency in the US) where she was a Vice President in the Strategy and Analytics group. With expertise in developing data-driven digital media strategies for Fortune 500 companies, she brings deep measurement and analytics experience to the Bluefin team. Anjali holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and a BA in Economics from Tufts University.

Brian Bedol
Co-Founder and Director
Brian Bedol is the managing partner of Bedrock Venture Partners, an investment company that provides mentor-funding to high-potential early stage media businesses. He has spent much of his career as a television executive and entrepreneur launching and growing successful professional content businesses. He has been involved in the launch and management of companies ranging from MTV to Court TV to the YES Network, and he founded and served as President and CEO of the sports television channels Classic Sports Network and College Sports Television, which have since been acquired and renamed ESPN Classic and CBS College Sports Network. Bedol was also a founding team-member of General Catalyst Partners as well as a seed investor in Akamai, Lycos Gamesville, and Buddy Media.
Geoff Yang
Director
Geoffrey Y. Yang is a founding partner of Redpoint Ventures, a $2 billion family of early-stage venture capital funds. Previously, Geoff was a general partner with Institutional Venture Partners, a firm he joined in 1987. During his more than 25 years in the venture capital business, Geoff has emphasized investments in consumer media and infrastructure. He led media and advertising investments including Ask Jeeves, Clicker Media, Excite, Gaia Online, Machinima, MySpace, Scribd, and TiVo. He also led networking investments including BigBand, Calix, Foundry Networks, Juniper Networks, MMC Networks and Wellfleet. Geoff was formerly Director of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) and Director and President of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists (WAVC). In addition, Geoff has served on the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC). Geoff holds a BSE in Engineering and a BA from Princeton, and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Frank Moss, Ph.D.

Frank Moss is Professor of the Practice at the MIT Media Lab, where he heads the New Media Medicine group. He has spent his career developing innovative technologies and bringing them to market. He was Director of the MIT Media Lab from 2006-2011, where he held the Jerome Wiesner chair of Media Technology, and before that he had a 30-year career as an entrepreneur in the software and computer industries. Moss served as CEO and chairman of Tivoli Systems Inc., a pioneer in distributed systems management, which he took public in 1995 and subsequently merged with IBM in 1996. He co-founded several other companies including Stellar Computer, Inc., a developer of graphic supercomputers, Bowstreet, Inc., a pioneer in the emerging field of web services, which was also acquired by IBM, and Infinity Pharmaceuticals, an early stage cancer drug discovery company (NASDAQ: INFI). Moss holds a BSE from Princeton University in Aerospace and Mechanical Sciences and a PhD from MIT in Aeronautics and Astronautics. He serves on the board of trustees of Princeton.
Rachel Lam
Director
Rachel Lam is SVP and Group Managing Director of the Time Warner Investments group, which targets non-control strategic investments in companies that have a clear fit with Time Warner's divisional operations. She has been the head of the strategic investing arm of Time Warner Inc. since 2003. She currently serves as a board member of Crowdstar and Simulmedia and board observer to Tremor Video, NuvoTV and Broadlogic. During her venture capital career, she has focused predominantly on the digital media and advertising technology sectors, and has overseen the successful exits of investments in Admeld (sold to Google), Playspan (sold to Visa), Kosmix (sold to Walmart), Turbine (sold to Warner Bros) and MediaVast (sold to Getty Images). Before returning to Time Warner in 2001, Ms. Lam was a principal at Quetzal/Chase Capital Partners, and before that was VP, U.S. private equity at CSFB Equity Partners, a $2.75 billion private equity fund. Prior to that, she was Director, Office of the President at Time Warner Inc. In addition, Ms. Lam spent several years in investment banking, at Credit Suisse First Boston and also at Morgan Stanley.
Ms. Lam received a B.S. degree in industrial engineering and operations research from U.C. Berkeley and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School.
